This is a two-DVD set that includes FOUR HOURS of instruction -- one DVD on the five fist postures of Xingyi, and a second DVD that teaches fighting applications of the five fist postures.

The five fist postures form the foundation of Xingyiquan (also spelled Hsing-I Chuan). This is considered an internal art, but it has a different attitude than Tai Chi or Bagua. A Xingyi fighter drives through his opponent and takes the opponent's ground. It is a powerful martial art used for self-defense.

Disc One includes an hour-and-a-half of in-depth instruction from Ken Gullette on the fist posture forms. Ken has studied Xingyi since 1987 and teaching since 1997. He has won dozens of tournament competitions using Xingyi.

Instruction starts with the San Ti stance, then proceeds to Pi Chuan (Splitting Palm), Tsuan Chuan (Drilling Fist), Beng Chuan (Crushing Fist), Pao Chuan (Pounding or Exploding Fist) and Heng Chuan (Crossing Fist). Each of the fist postures has a short form devoted to it, and you will learn these forms from this DVD. Ken also teaches important internal body mechanics that will give your form relaxed power.

In the second DVD, Ken shows several self-defense applications and strategies for each fist posture -- defenses against grabs, pushes, punches, and kicks. Disc 2 runs 2 hours 30 minutes. Ken drills into body mechanics, too. You'll watch as he teaches and corrects students at a workshop recorded in 2008.
